The Economic Society of Australia (WA) is hosting a breakfast presentation in its Economics on the Swan series on 3 October 2025. The speaker is Professor Robert Breunig, and his topic is “Reflections on the Economic Reform Roundtable and prospects for tax reform”.
Professor Breunig is the director of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at the Crawford School of Public Policy. Since 1 September 2025 he has been President of the Economic Society of Australia. He is one of Australia’s leading public policy economists, with research projects including the relationship between child care and women’s labour supply; the effect of immigration to Australia on the labour market prospects of Australians; the effect of switching to cash from food stamps in the U.S. food stamp program and the inter-generational transmission of disadvantage.
