The annual Shann Memorial Lecture honours the memory of the Foundation Chair of Economics and History at the University of Western Australia, Edward Shann.
A collaboration between the Economic Society of Australia (WA Branch) and the UWA Economics Department, the lecture has been delivered annually since the 1960's and in addition to featuring esteemed guest speakers, it provides the opportunity for attendees to ask questions and engage in discussion.
The 2026 Shann Memorial Lecture, titled 'The Learning State: Building Experimentation into Australian Government' will be delivered by the Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP.
