David is kindly delivering this seminar on Thursday 27 August\, once at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA) at 11:00am\, and again at the&nbsp\;University of Western Australia Business School at 2:00pm.&nbsp\;

About the speaker:
Dr David Gruen&nbsp\;AO has served as the Australian Statistician since December 2019\, leading the Australian Bureau of Statistics as its Agency Head. He also serves as Head of the Australian Public Service Data Profession\, sits on the Board of the e61 Institute\, and chairs the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation.
David's&nbsp\;career has been defined by leadership roles in Australia's key economic policy institutions. He headed the Economic Research Department at the Reserve Bank of Australia from 1998 to 2002\, led the Macroeconomic Group at the Australian Treasury as Executive Director\, and served as Deputy Secretary (Economic) and Australia's G20 Sherpa at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He holds PhDs in physiology from the University of Cambridge and in economics from The Australian National University. In 2022\, David was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to public administration and economic research\, and in 2026 he was awarded the ESA Distinguished Public Policy Fellow Award.
