Shann Memorial Lecture
The Economic Society of Australia (WA) had the pleasure of co-hosting the 2024 Shann Memorial Lecture on 16 October 2024. The lecture was delivered by Chris Richardson at the University of Western Australia and was titled “Australia: Why we are where we are...”. Chris examined the stagnation of Australia’s living standards over the past decade, what has caused it, and some of the things we could do to address it.
Chris is a well-known economic commentator and has worked at the Commonwealth Treasury, the International Monetary Fund, Access Economics and Deloitte Access Economics.
The Shann Memorial Lecture honours the Foundation Chair of Economics and History at UWA, Edward Shann. It is co-hosted by the Economic Society of Australia (WA) and the University of Western Australia Business School.
